Between history, legend and fantasy, a journey between the ghosts that inhabit the Eternal City. Occasional attitudes, many of them feminine, from tormented life, who at night still love to visit the places that saw them protagonists in life, making them even more charming and fascinating.

An unusual and curious itinerary, from Piazza San Pietro to Pantheon, in the footsteps of Roman ghosts.

An expert on historical stories will guide you through the most mysterious places in Rome telling the most secret legends about illustrious historical characters.

Starting with the legend of Giulio Cesare’s ghost dating back to imperial Rome, whose ashes are said to have been preserved inside the golden globe inside the Vatican Museum. Then come to Castel Sant’Angelo where there are many ghosts going on: besides those of the many condemned to death, whose laments still stand out from the ancient stones of the Castle, the most famous are certainly those of Beatrice Cenci and Mastro Titta. It is said that in some nights, if you are lucky enough, you can see their spirits wander around the castle.

Even Navona Square, jewel of the Baroque era, is affected by “strange appearances” such as those of Constance De Cupis and Donna Olimpia Pamphilj, on full moon nights it is possible to see the ghosts of the two women.

Finally, the story of the Pantheon is also linked to “supernatural” events. The Temple of all the gods was born following a vision by prefect Marco Vipsanio Agrippa before driving the Roman army in Persia. When the Pantheon was transformed into the church of Santa Maria in Martyres, on the occasion of the blessing, to the notes of Gloria in excelsis, a host of angry devils, who for centuries lived there undisturbed, would rise in flight to escape the opening of the dome and never come back again.
