Chianti & Val d’Orcia: Legendary Wine Estates and Castle Retreats

T02: CHIANTI & VAL D'ORCIA — Legendary Wine Estates and Castle Retreats

The Heart of Tuscan Wine Country

The rolling hills of Chianti and the UNESCO-listed Val d'Orcia produce some of the world's most celebrated wines. The estates that produce them are among Italy's most beautiful properties — and many are now luxury hotels.

Where to Stay

Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco — A 5,000-acre estate in the Val d'Orcia, founded by the Ferragamo family. Private villas, a championship golf course, and some of Tuscany's most prestigious vineyards. Wake up in your private villa, hunt for truffles on the estate, and taste Brunello on your terrace as the sun illuminates the rolling hills. Castello di Vicarello — A 12th-century castle in the Maremma with organic luxury, private vineyards, and views reaching the Tyrrhenian Sea. Castello Banfi Il Borgo — A hilltop stone hamlet near Montalcino, surrounded by vineyards and ancient olive groves. The Banfi name is synonymous with Brunello excellence.

The Wines

Brunello di Montalcino — The king of Tuscan reds. Made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, aged for a minimum of 4 years. The finest examples (Banfi, Biondi-Santi, Soldera) are among the world's most prestigious wines. Chianti Classico — The everyday king. From the hills between Florence and Siena, with the black rooster (Gallo Nero) seal of authenticity. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano — The "noble wine" from the town of Montepulciano. Elegant, complex, and increasingly sought-after.

The Banfi Castle Helicopter Experience

Our signature Tuscan experience: fly from Rome to Banfi Castle's private helipad, enjoy a private cellar tasting of Brunello (including rare vintages), a gourmet lunch, and a vineyard tour. Return to Rome at sunset.
